That’s right Tuesday is Aziza Nawal day at AFBD! Level 1 drop-in classes at 7pm for all new to belly dance and those who just want some good old fashioned technique. We will drill isolations, step combinations and shimmies essential to Middle Eastern Dance.
Then at 8pm, Aziza Nawal will teach the Intermediate/Advanced level class. Topics may include: combinations to different Middle Eastern rhythms each week explaining the structure and sound, how it is used in music of the region and most importantly – how to dance to them. Class will consist of drills across the floor with a focus on technique for the Intermediate to Professional level dancer as well as intense warm-ups. get ready to learn and train!

Forgive the long intro – i had hoped you could hear the intro from Majda Anwar a bit better. She is providing a little background information on the song and original composer of the music being used. It’s Ma’wood by Abdel Halim Hafiz performed and arranged by Safaa Farid from the CD Sukara. In a nutshell – The song is about a man who is happy confused by a former lover’s return and is trying to come to terms with his feelings.
Aziza Nawal is back! After her summer hiatus, Aziza Nawal is returning to Atlanta Fusion Belly Dance Studios to teach Hardcore Belly Dance! This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer who wants to improve their technique and continue their training. The focus is on a variety of styles that includes but is not limited to, Egyptian, American Cabaret, Tribal and folkloric styles.
Technique and combinations for all styles of belly dance will be taught in this fun high energy class- it’s also a great workout! Drop-ins are welcome!

This is a Level One class perfect for the beginner, novice beginner and those intermediate to advanced level dancers seeking structured core training. As they say in ballet – “back to the bar” – this class moves you through a body awareness warm-up, isolation exercises, various shimmies and traveling moves that are all essential to Middle Eastern Dance.

About the workshop
Aziza Nawal is renowned for her dance artistry, impeccable timing and dynamic stage presence. She has worked with many legendary drummers -most notably, the King of Drum Issam Houshan. In this workshop, Aziza Nawal will demonstrate her unique technique and musical interpretation that will translate into a thrilling choreography. You will learn to differentiate rhythms commonly used in drum solo performances and leave with
combinations useful in creating your own choreography.
Class from 10:00-12:00, lunch break 12:00-1:15, class resumes 1:15-3:15
4 hour workshop $80 by 02/17/17 (price increses to $90 thereafter).
